So, it’s been a while since I updated the blog. Simple reason, really; Life. Towards the end of October last year, I took on a new (non machine learning-related) job that required all of my focus and attention, leaving no time to continue my machine learning journey.

The job is intimately link to Brexit and despite plenty of well-meaning preparation at the end of 2020, when Brexit became a reality in early January 2021, I was working 12-14 hour days in the midst of total industry-wide confusion. Certainly no time left for anything other than falling into bed, ready for the next day.

Thankfully, the confusion was not permanent and by the end of February 2021, workday durations return to normal, leaving me with enough energy and time to resume my studies. Unfortunately, I had not retained much of what I had previously learned and had to start ab-initio.

Back in December, Santa Claus kindly gifted me a copy of Python for Data Analysis and that’s where I decided to restart my studies.python for data analysis

Having spent a few weeks enveloped in the book, I am happy to report that it was a worthy decision and, thanks to Wes McKinney, I am now more proficient in Pandas and Numpy than I was before. Every cloud…

Expect examples in the near future, showcasing a few of the new skills that I have picked up in data wrangling and visualisation.

Another benefit of the break, was that I had time to refocus and make the mental commitment to study and acquire certified TensorFlow Developer status. I don’t expect the process to be easy by any means, but then anything worthwhile never is.
